The Zuccardi family from Mendoza, Argentina, has appointed Hatch Mansfield as its exclusive UK agent for *Bodega Zuccardi Valle de Uco, responsible for all channel sectors in the UK. The collaboration will start on 1st October 2019.
Hatch Mansfield will take over distribution from Alliance Wine and will handle all the ‘Zuccardi’ ranges. Watermill Wines will continue to distribute the wines coming from the family´s Bodega Santa Julia.
Familia Zuccardi was founded in the 1960s by Alberto Zuccardi, an engineer who pioneered the development of high-quality vineyards in the desert sites of Mendoza. He was joined by his son, the charismatic experimentalist José Alberto who was awarded the International Wine Challenge ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ in 2016, and by his grandson Sebastián Zuccardi, who was recognized by Decanter magazine as #1 South America´s top winemakers, in March 2019.
Sebastián, a rebellious viticulturist, took over from his father after spending several vintages working overseas. Being one of the most admired new breed of Argentine wine producers, Sebastian aims to challenge preconceptions, making terroir-driven wines from vineyards in the Uco Valley. At the same time, he acknowledges Argentinian traditions, including its grapes, not only Malbec but also Bonarda, which he is actively planting even in cooler zones.
