World’s Best Wine Photos Share Celebrations Of Food & Drink

Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year captures the beauty of harvest

A beautiful shot, A Grape View, by Spanish photographer Oscar Oliveras, has won the prestigious Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year, a category of Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2021, the world’s leading celebration of food and wine photography and film.

The shot captures the gathering of Semillon grapes on the first day of the harvest at Château des Ganfards, in Saussignac, France. The harvesting machine is unloading the fruit into the tractor, ready to take them into the winery for pressing.

Oliveras was winner of  the Produce category before going on to win the overall prize of Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year. The People category was won by Victor Pugatschew, Australia, with Pressing the Pinot Noir, which was taken at the Hoddles Creek Estate located in the Yarra Valley. The Places category was won by Lana Svitankova, Ukraine, with The vanishing craft, which was taken at a winery in Porto.

“The range and quality of images this year has been extraordinary,” says Caroline Kenyon, Founder/Director of the Awards. “They tell moving, beautiful, informative, entertaining food and drink stories of every kind from around the world – a world still gripped by the pandemic – and show us how food & wine connects us all.” The restrictions of the pandemic did not defeat the celebrations. The winners were announced by Fred Sirieix, in an exciting Awards ceremony that was live streamed on the competition’s YouTube channel on Tuesday 27 April 2021. It was watched by an audience across the globe, including celebrities from the food and photography world.

Champagne Taittinger is also an ongoing supporter of the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year.  The Wedding Food Photographer category was won by John Armstrong-Millar, France, for his image, Many a Slip, which captures a moment during one couple’s big day where things go a little off script.  Li Huaifeng, China, won the Food for Celebration category, also sponsored by Champagne Taittinger, with his photograph of a Happy birthday celebration.  Huaifeng went on to become the overall winner of the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2021 title, with his work of art, Taste, which was taken in Licheng, Shanxi, on a warm and sunny day, and shows a young family sharing in the joy of preparing food.
