27th July to 2nd August saw the twelfth Royal London Yacht Club Cowes Classics Week and the second year of partnership between RLYC and Australian wine producer Robert Oatley.
Competing crews travelled to the Isle of Wight from far and wide to race their beautiful traditional yachts of various different classes. To qualify as ‘classic’, boats had to have been originally designed at least 50 years ago.
The partnership between Robert Oatley Wines and Cowes Classics Week is an apt one; Bob Oatley, the late founder of Robert Oatley Wines, was a notorious sailor and the legacy of his Wild Oats superyacht continues – particularly renowned for its nine line honours in the Sydney to Hobart race.
