Last Sunday 1st December, the British Independent Film Awards were hosted by comedian Aisling Bea at Old Billingsgate, supported by Taittinger as Official Champagne.
Celebrating on the night at the 22nd BIFAs were winners including Kristin Scott Thomas, awarded ‘The Richard Harris Award for Outstanding Contribution by an actor to British Film’, Renée Zellweger as best actress and Josh O’Connor for best actor. Best International Independent Film, sponsored by Champagne Taittinger, the only category open to non-UK films, was won by Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite.
Guests at this year’s BIFAs celebrated with Taittinger Nocturne City Lights, which was poured from magnums.
Founded in 1998, by Elliot Grove and Suzanne Ballantyne of the Raindance Film festival, The British Independent Film Awards highlight and reward the best, most innovative and creative independent filmmaking and filmmakers in the UK.
Champagne Taittinger, the only top Champagne house to be owned and actively run by the family named on the label, is the perfect partner to the BIFAs. As Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger, grandson of the founder says, ‘The family aspect is crucial. It is a philosophy, and a guarantee. We sign all our bottles – a great responsibility’. He and his family are fiercely passionate about their independence and are avid supporters of the arts and culture.
Lynn Murray, Marketing Director for Hatch Mansfield, the sole UK agents for Champagne Taittinger, comments, “We were delighted to support this event for the fourth year and applaud the achievements and creativity behind films from around the globe. As a slightly richer style Taittinger Nocturne is the perfect Champagne to enjoy throughout the evening and beyond.”
