The Cherubino portfolio will complement Hatch Mansfield’s existing partnership with Western Australian producer, Robert Oatley Vineyards, where Larry Cherubino is also the Director of Winemaking.
A true pioneer, the winemaker and vigneron has garnered worldwide experience in designing vineyards and wineries and leading vintages in New Zealand, the USA, France, Italy and South Africa, which, combined with his network of long-standing relationships with West Australian family vineyards, led to the decision to establish his own wine brand nearly twenty years ago.
The award-winning and family-owned Western Australian business was established in 2005, by Larry and his wife Edwina, and is now astutely recognised as one of Australia’s most successful and innovative wine producers.
Larry and Edwina purchased their first parcel of land in 2004 in Frankland River, where Edwina grew up. The Cherubino brand was brought to life the following year with the release of one wine – from their spare room. Fast forward a few years and the Cherubinos jumped at the chance to purchase the neighbouring vineyard as well as several acres of prime river and vineyard country. Their Riversdale vineyard is now considered one of the best in the state.
Since those early years, the range of wines has grown and has received a variety of accolades from respected wine critics such as James Halliday as well as various medals and trophies along the way.
The Cherubino range includes wines such as Ad Hoc Hen & Chicken Chardonnay and Cruel Mistress Pinot Noir, targeted at the Independent retail and On Trade sectors. Hatch Mansfield are thrilled to be working with Hallgarten & Novum Wines who will continue to supply the On Trade.
Larry commented: “This is an incredibly exciting new chapter for Cherubino. We’re proud of our origins here in Western Australia. Our provenance and sense of place contribute greatly to the wines we produce and the experience consumers have around them. Working with the team at Hatch Mansfield will play a huge role in allowing us to bring those experiences to life and to reach new audiences within the UK and beyond.”
Ben Knollys, Managing Director at Hatch Mansfield, commented: “Larry has been part of the Hatch family for a number of years, so we’re delighted to be extending this by bringing his superb Cherubino wines within the umbrella of our portfolio.”
Andrew Bewes, Managing Director of Hallgarten & Novum Wines, added: “We are delighted to continue our association with Larry Cherubino and look forward to working closely with Hatch Mansfield to further build sales and distribution of these exceptional wines within the UK’s vibrant hospitality sector.”
Wines from the Cherubino range will be available to taste on the Hatch Mansfield stand D40 at the London Wine Fair, 15-17th May 2023.
