On Sunday 6th June, the winners for this year’s Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards were announced, applauding the very best programmes and performances over the last year.
Richard Ayoade returned as host of the annual ceremony, with the winners being announced during a star-studded ceremony at BBC Television Centre, London. The revered occasion was once again held in support of both established and up and coming talent involved in the cream of British television from drama, comedy, soaps and documentaries, fact and fiction.
Some of the most brilliant small screen icons made the most of the socially distanced occasion to raise funds on behalf of BAFTA. Luminaries including Adrian Dunbar and David Morrissey signed a special Methuselah of Brut Réserve NV from official BAFTA partner, Champagne Taittinger, which will be auctioned at a fundraising event.
Villa Maria partnered with the team from BAFTA’s Piccadilly venue in London to create a once in a lifetime BAFTA cuisine experience. This included a competition offering three lucky winners the chance to experience the star treatment later in the year with a wine tasting with Front of House Manager, Graham Lloyd-Bennett, and a cooking demonstration with Head Chef, Anton Manganaro, before enjoying the BAFTA-worthy menu (right). The prize includes accommodation and travel. Viewers at home were also encouraged to raise a glass of Villa Maria and recreate this BAFTA-inspired wine and fine dining menu for themselves with menus shared as part of Villa Maria’s pre-event social media content
Champagne Taittinger, Official Champagne Partner, celebrates a 19-year partnership with BAFTA this year and Villa Maria has been the official Wine Partner for 13 years.
